1841 B1 SG8 1d RED BROWN VERY LATE USED 1898 VERY FINE COVER TO YEOVIL (JB) RARE A fine 4 margin example, tied to envelope by 2 London Finsbury Park duplex for Jan 24th 1898, used over 50 years late for a imperforated 1d Red - replaced by the perforated stamp in 1854. Judge Frederick Aldolphus Phillbricks (1835-1910) was the founder of the Royal Philatelic Society. A very nice cover and rare so late use.

1870 SG48/49 1/2d ROSE RED PLATE 12 UNUSED MARGINAL BLOCK OF 36 NO GUM (OA/TF) No gum but very scarce in such large blocks. Marginal inscription, full deckled edge. SG Cat £4320.00 as unused singles.

1841 B1 SG8 1d RED BROWN PLATE 120 BLOCK OF 4 WATERMARK INVERTED VERY RARE PI/QJ A very fine used block of 4, with 4 good to large margins all round. 2 strikes of Scottish Aberdeen "1" straight line cancellation - contrary to regulations. Blocks of 1841 1d Reds with inverted watermarks are very rare, and with this cancellation, possible unique. Ex. Tony Child collection. SG Cat £400.00 as single, £1600.00 as 4 singles with over double premium for a block of 4 with ordinary cancellations.

1840 AS20 SG2 1d BLACK PLATE 3 VERY FINE LARGE MARGINAL RED MALTESE CROSS (TK) A very fine 4 large margin example from the bottom of the sheet with sheet margin. Lightly struck by a red Maltese cross. Spec AS20. SG Cat £500.00 +

1887 SG199 2d GREEN & SCARLET WATERMARK INVERTED RPS CERT DRURY LANE CDS RARE A fine used example in the now Scarlet shade SG199, was called vermilion back in 1985. This is difficult stamp in the Carmine shade SG199, but very rare in the the Scarlet shade. A copy of the Royal cert when it was part of a pair. Spec K30(1)a.

1867 SG113 10d PALE BROWN WMK SPRAY RARE HENRY S KING & CO CANCEL (IF) In over 25 years, we have never seen this rare cancellation on this value. Google the "Precancels of Great Britain" website to confirm and more information. not even listed on the 10d. SG Cat £400.00 +

1881 SG172 KC34 1d LILAC DIE II CONTROL "J" NO RULE UNMOUNTED MINT/HINGED PAIR Watermark Crown 16 dot. The control stamp appears to be MNH but has a small corner bend. There are hinges around. Double perf variety. A difficult item and SG Cat £75 as a hinged single.

1911 SOMERSET HSE SG293 5d PURPLE & BLUE MINT/U/M INTERPANNEAU BLOCK OF 4 Dull Reddish Purple & Bright Blue. Top pair lightly hinged, the rest all U/M. A lovely fresh positional piece and a nice example of vertically shifted blue rule. M30(2)

1887 JUBILEE SG211 1s DULL GREEN U/M MINT MARGINAL PAIR SETTING 1 FULL ORNAMENT A superb unmounted mint - MNH - pair from the bottom of the sheet of 120. With full marginal ornament, only 2 of these appear on a sheet of 120 stamps, and was where the post office divided the sheets vertically. From the first marginasl setting - no rules in the margin. Spec K40(1) A rare exhibition item. SOLD

1876 SG156 8d ORANGE PLATE 1 WMK LARGE GARTER FINE UNUSED HINGED (FJ) CAT £1850 A very fine and fresh example, hinged/mounted, large part original gum. SG Cat £1850.00

1858 F8 SG36a 2d DEEP BLUE LARGE CROWN PERF 16 PLATE 6 FULL DUBLIN DUPLEX (CF) A lovely cancellation trying the stamp to piece for March 17th 1858. Spec F8. SG Cat £325.00
