Queen Victoria - Surface Printed Stamps
Surface-printing or typography took over from the embossed
issues. As many impressions as were needed could be taken from one die and as such resulted in
a cheaper form of printing. This method of printing was developed by De La Rue who took over
stamp production for the remaining stamps of Victoria's reign.
